This desert peninsula situated in the North of the golf of Girolata, renowned for its mountainous and wild decorations, is classified by UNESCO in the world patrimony.

Scandola's reserve represents the maritime facade of the Regional Park Corsica.
First at the same moment maritime and ground French reserve, Scandola's reserve was creates on December 9, 1975. The ground surface is 920 ha whereas its maritime area reaches 1000 ha.

Scandola offer as many geologic curiosities, as animal and vegetable. Indeed, the mountainous decoration presents ripped cliffs, basalt columns of volcanic origin, affected sides, curious called holes tafoni.

Towards animals, the reserve contains sorts of rare birds such as the balbuzard fisherman, the crested cormorant, the herring gull, the peregrine falcon... One also finds there Cestoni's big dog, biggest bat of Europe.

Finally, the flora, rich for the coastal, present region of myrtes, lentisques, treelike heath being able to go to 4 metres, to holm oaks, to a dense undergrowth.

It is necessary to know that Scandola's site received in 1985, prestigious European diploma of the Council of Europe to be " best one of the watched scientific zones and managed in Mediterranean region but also in Europe ".
