HISTORY : The Greeks

history corsica bastia st florent cap corse
Installation of Greeks in Aleria.

In 565 B.C the Phocaeans settled on the last coast and created Aleria. It has been said the Greeks have brought a lot to Corsica writing and coins (the concrete symbol of business exchange).

They farmed the vineyards and olive trees, using the jars to transport the olive oil, wine and wheat.

Corsica has been baptised the following Kalliste (the beautiful) then Tyros and Cyrnos in reference to Hercules sons who had chosen the island as their home country. Many businesses use these names.
