200 km long, it cuts across Corsica from the north west to the south west.

It departs from Calenzana, in Balagne to reach Conca, near Porto-Vecchio. The entire route follows the line of the great ridge of the interior, from time to time reaching the 2 000 metres altitude mark. It is said that only one out of four hikers would accomplish this complete journey, for this reason good knowledge of the mountain is required. Impossible to do in winter with the exception of being on skis, it is advisable in spring or summer. The most propitious period being between July and mid October.

The entire trail takes two weeks. The landscape is magnificent, with a suprising fauna (arbutus and olive trees at low altitudes, to beech trees and Corsican pine trees in the forests at high altitudes), the fauna is extremely abundant (wild boar, mouflons goats and kids) and quaint little villages.

There are in all 15 stages but you can choose only specific hikes by following only little sections as they join up in numerous sections. Shelters and refuges are dotted over the path and often the efforts made during the the long hours walked walk are rewarded by good typical Corsian meals (charcuterie–cooked pork meats and cheese). Camping anywhere along the paths is forbidden, but bivouac is organized around the refuges.
